I recently tried out the Hiwonder LX-224 servo, and here's my honest take. The servo works for various robot joints, which is pretty cool. It uses a serial bus servo connector, and I appreciate that it has a high-precision potentiometer to track the angle position. Plus, it has this feedback thing for position, temperature, and voltage. That's smart because it helps protect the servo from overheating. Overall, the LX-224 servo seems like a solid choice for bionic robot joints. It does what it says, and I appreciate the thought put into its design and functionality.
Please note that the board's output driver may have limitations with baud rates above approximately 115200. However, I found a solution to control Dynamixel servos effectively by adjusting their baud rate through alternative methods. Personally, I connected the RX pin directly to the Dynamixel bus and sent a broadcast write command to prevent response conflicts. Once you navigate these considerations, the board performs reliably, and I'm satisfied with the results.
Even though there's a time gap between the US and China, Hiwonder's support team quickly fixed my problem. I really like their helpful service and the servo works great!
Although Something wrong with my servo, it was solved by seller quickly. They sent me a new servo as soon as possible. Seller very engaged in customer satisfaction and quality. Servo ends up working great！
